Welcome to the Cat Nation Cat Fanciers Club website. We are a small
CFA
Cat Club made up of breeders and enthusiasts in the
Great Lakes Region. We host what is usually one of the larger
shows of the year. Our
Links section has links to members' home pages and other information. The
Mail Menu will open your default e-mail program with our address in your To Field. Thank you for stopping by our site, if you have any suggestions or ideas to improve upon it please
mail our webmaster.
The
CFA show season runs from May 1 - April 30, so our show is on the last weekend of the season. This means that the
Erie show is the last chance to see many of the past year's best grand champions and grand premiers in the show ring and an opportunity to see next year's best getting ready for the new season.
How The Cat Nation Fanciers Got Their Name
The name Erie originated from a independent tribe of Iroquois Indians. Within that Iroquois Tribe, Erie meant "long tail," referring to the panther. The Iroquois Tribe was known as the Cat Nation. They originally lived on the southern shore of Lake Erie.
Within a 17th century French map, written in the French version of the Huron language, "lac des Gens du Chat" (Lake Erie) is translated as " Lake of the Cat People".
The Cat Nation gave its name to one of the finest cat clubs in the Cat Fanciers Association.
